Research and References Folder Semester A
...................................................................................................................................................................
This folder contains all the research and
references, which I have used to create my finals projects. It has helped me
out to start each projects and ended with the final outcomes.
I have researched many dance styles via
Internet and by publicity so I can find out more information about the dance
style and what kind of dance style will be interesting and easy for me to be
performed that the audience will be amazed after watching it. After gathering
all the research of hairstyles and dance steps, I have decided to look at
contemporary dance such as ballet; as it’s one of the best dances to be
performed on the stage, whether is telling a story or any emotions or feelings.
I have researched different hairstyles
and drew them in detail to see how it would be suitable for
the dance steps. For the hairstyles, I have produced a lot
of hairstyles that is based on buns, as my researched part of the dance
style is Ballet. Through out my research I’ve noticed that in a ballet dancers
hair is neatly and softly tied up in elegant buns, which relates to the
hairstyle that I've chosen for this project.
The research contains drawings of
the dance steps and hairstyles that I've produced
for this dance steps called Asian Classical Dance. I’ve chosen a
quiff with side plait hairstyle as it looks really classical and beautiful as
well as its traditional. I decided to create this type of traditional clothes
and a hairstyle because it’s classical which relates to the Indian dance style
and hairstyle. In addition, the quiff might represent the skirt of the
costumes, as it’s really big and elegant. The reason for the side plait is
that all the classical dancers have long side plait at the front when they
preform in this particular dance form.
I have
taken different images of all the tourist attractions and these are
the main ones that I have selected from a large collection of
different images. I have also included the site that I have visited to find
more information about the places. While I took images of different sights I also
gathered information/leaflets/maps from the reception desk.
Before I went to visit all these places, I didn’t know
about many places so this is the map
which I printed online which guided me while visiting all the
places.
I have collected many different cards
design to find out all the information that a single card can hold. In most of
the cards, I have noticed that they only used an image and then an address that
contains name of the person or place, contact number and a site where the
audience can visit to see what’s around. Therefore I would like to see
something similar like this in my own calling cards.
I have looked at the different
measurements of the size paper, as my cards will be printed on to an A6.
Therefore, it will be useful for me to find out the exact
measurements.
Below are some of my own sketches of the
main attraction in London, which I have used to create an A6 calling
cards. My first idea was to use my own sketches and Image Trace them
in Illustrator to make them look digital. But unfortunately, because the
sketches were really detailed, each time I traced it I was getting unexpected
results as it’s shown below. Therefore, I had to change my
ideas by using primary images, which I had captured.
During this project, I visited
V&A museum and I saw a typography exhibition, which was
really amazing, and Nada Debs and Nasser Al-Salem held it. I was
really inspired by Arabic typography work that they have produced
and I would like to include some aspect of their work into
mine. Debs artwork was exhibited in V&A called Concrete Carpet, 2010
where as Al-Salem was Arabic calligraphy with contemporary art using both words
semantics and visual forms to communicate meaning behind the artwork.
The research contains primary images of
typography poster, a billboard and a t-shirt. I have looked at Billboard
outside the V&A, which has Typography all over the large
billboard. This has helped me to choose the most suitable colours and
other aspect that was relevant to my given quote. It also helped me out to
decide what kind of billboard I want for my designer quote. Many billboard that
I have looked at outside were mainly designed as an appropriate size
and it was landscape.
I have looked at different layouts of
the T-shirt online, I found out that all typography quotes been
placed in the centre of the T-shirt which looks really elegant and
it’s easy to read. The main colour that stood out for me
was a black and white and I might use these colours in my T-shirt
design.
Since I wad a child in India, I have done
henna designs for a different occasion and since then I am really fond of
creating henna pattern designs. I would hope to see henna in my badge to
represent my passion for henna.
I have looked at the jewellery boxes that
it has been designed already, as my idea is to design a jewellery box but
something different and unique.
I then looked at images of personal diary
and letters that I want to include it in my jewellery box to make it more
secure where nobody can see it and you can also include any personal products
that you don’t want to share it with anyone else.
