Project 1: A Dance Step and a Hairstyle

..................................................................................................................................

In this project I’ve been asked to invent a new dance step, hair style, create an A3 poster/leaflet and A5 flick book using two spot colours. I've researched many dance styles as its show below.

The images shown below are the different hairstyles that I’ve researched and the other hairstyles that I've came up with. I’ve chosen Ballet dance step to find out about the history, the genre, where the dance step was originated, how many types of ballets they are and how many styles are involved in Ballet. The images show different postures that are related to ballet.

These are the images of the hairstyles that I’ve come up with, that I drew them into detail to see how it can be created. I've mostly produced different kind of buns, as my researched part of the dance style is Ballet. Through out my research I’ve noticed that in a ballet dancers hair is neatly and softly tied up in elegant buns, which relates to the hairstyle that I've chosen for this project.

These drawings are the dance steps and hairstyles that I've invented for this project called Asian Classical Dance. I’ve chosen a quiff with side plait hairstyle as it looks really classical and beautiful as well as its traditional. I decided to create this type of traditional clothes and a hairstyle because it’s classical which relates to the Indian dance style and hairstyle. In addition, the quiff might represents the skirt of the costumes as its really big and elegant and the reason for the side plait is that all the classical dancers have long side plait at the front when they preform this particular dance form.

The image below, shows the poster of the dance step that I've invented. For the background I’ve used black against the neon colour to make the design stand out. also, as you can see that the contrast between the colours really compliments each other which makes the poster look elegant and professional. I've used wavy lines around the whole poster as I thought by doing this would give an impact of a ballet dance.

Here are some of the images shown below of my flip book. I've produced more steps of the classical dance form.

Below, I have also created a short clip where you can see all the different steps and added music that goes with classical dance form.
